Currency: The official currency in Vietnam is Vietnam Dong (VND). Few hotels and shops accept credit cards, so cash is also necessary. There are now few ATMs accepting international cards. Please note that most ATMs charge a fee of approximately US$4 for use of international cards.
Language: Vietnamese is the official language.
Electricity: Electricity used in Vietnam is 220v-50Hz. The types of plug are A and C (as pictures below)
Weather: The weather in Tra Vinh is hot during March. Though the temperature is quite high, sudden rains that often last for a few minutes somehow make the atmosphere cooler and refresh the city. Average temperature: 30oc - 32oc
Visa: Visas are required for most foreign nationals.

By plane
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) offers international flights to and from a number of destinations including Bangkok, Australia, United States, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong and Singapore among others.
By bus: Overland travel is possible from Cambodia. There is a bus from Phnompenh to Tra Vinh
From Ho Chi Minh City to Tra Vinh: Tra Vinh is about three hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City
*Notes: TVU will arrange a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to and from Tra Vinh for all participants with registration in advance.
Means of transportation: (for those who miss the TVU bus)
By car/taxi: you may rent a car or taxi to Tra Vinh from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Tra Vinh. It is about 77 USD/pax (from 1.700.000 VND). It would be more economical if you travel in groups.
By bus: You may take a bus from Mien Tay bus station (the taxi from TSN airport to the bus station is about 10 USD = 200.000 VND) there are many companies Kim Hoang, Thanh Thuy, Phuong Trang (recommended). You may book the seat via telephone: (about 7.0 USD/person = 140.000),

From Can Tho to Tra Vinh: It is about a two hour drive from Can Tho to Tra Vinh.
Means of transportation:
By car/taxi: you may rent a car or taxi to Tra Vinh from the International Airport to Tra Vinh. It is about 45 USD/pax (from 1.000.000 VND). It would be more economical if you travel in groups.

By bus: You may take a bus from bus station 91B (the taxi from TSN airport to the bus station is about 10 USD = 200.000 VND). However, the bus from Can Tho to Tra Vinh is not as good and comfortable as the one from HCMC. So, renting a car or a taxi is recommended.
